If you are asking me if I would fly a kestrel with telemetry the answer is yes. Transmitters come in 3-5 gram sizes now and can be mounted any number of ways. It boils down to 2 things for me 1) after loosing my RT for 8 days I have become a diehard telemetry fan. It did help me find her the next time she disappeared. 2) I would use telemetry on ANY bird I cared about. It is said that the smaller hawks and falcons if lost during a hunt will certainly perish due to the low wieght they are flown at. I'm not saying I totaly agree with that but it has some merit.

I have also leaned it is not worth the chance. If you can afford it get it, no matter what you fly. A lot of people will dissagree with me but I have been there when birds get lost and it triple SUX!
