I took that online test a day or so ago, but I knew I wouldn't do too well. I got 60 correct (minus 7 or so for good guesses), but I'm admittedly years away from becoming an apprentice. But I figured I'd give myself a place to start and measure my progress from. So now as I study more I can feel good about how much I've learned, as opposed to feeling daunted by what I still don't know.
There's no substitute for a decent sponsor and mentor. But for those like myself who 1) aren't positive that falconry is compatible with them, 2) don't have any local falconers whose brains they can pick, and 3) haven't purchased, borrowed, or in other ways acquired the best apprentice books, this site is just the thing we need to keep that flame burning until we get into falconry or decide it is not right for us.
I don't want to sound like I'm only here to weasel information out of you guys and gals, but I think someone with an earnest interest in falconry will try their best to learn as much as s/he can about it. And I think that a sample test is a great way to find out if you really want to learn about (and hopefully practice) falconry or not. I know it's made me want to learn more.

Ask any questions you want about falconry. There are quite a few folks on here, myself included, that will try their best to give you answers.

I just passed the exam. I am in Oklahoma and was told that this has been the same test that has been given for 20 years. There were a few questions that were obsolete like the banding and a few other regs that have been done away with. I mainly studied the CHC Study Guide, the AZ falconers online test, and the www.onlinefalconry.com test. I was getting consistently 95 to 100% the last two days of studying (easy to do if you take the tests over and over and figure out the right answers). I also read a few books like The Falconers Apprentice by Oakes, A Falconry Manual by Beebe and the CHC Apprentice Guide. I can say that if you study these you can pass the exam, but there was quite a lot on the exam that I flat didn't know. I think I ended up with about an 85% when it was graded, but whew, don't have to do that again. I watched her grade it and out of the first 25 I missed 8, man that made me nervous......

I am in Bartlesville. It is up in the North East corner of the state.
Went to W. Falls once a while back to do the Hotter n Hell Hundred. Man was that a tough bike ride.
Good Luck to you when you take the test.

Yea HHH 100 is coming up here pretty quick. Never road it. 100 miles on a bike in August in Texas does not sound like fun to me. Thanks for the luck, hope to take test soon. Still need a sponser.
