I agree with Weasel about the mews and books. When I was a pre-apprientice I got every book I could lay my hands on (mom was on the band wagon too)
We (parents chipped in) spent about 3800 for my mews. Since my mews was being placed on my University's Farm property (5 minute drive) I wanted something that could withstand elements yet I had to make sure it blended in to the existing building. Last thing I wanted was some drunk moron screwin with my mews. So I figured since I didn't want my father attempting to build in 100 + days we agreed to order a custom Tuff shed (hence the $$$) and it was build onsite in one day. He and I built the perches painted the inside ( it has a double door system and a work room area) and yesterday he put in the gravel.
You can do just about anything to make the mews dephending on its location and your prefences. Work with your sponsor, I had Weasel come take a look at the site ( its on a sloped concrete slab) and then again after it was built...and he'll most likely come out again if I promise BBQ ;-)
