Riker, I can give you very detailed directions to go to where there are LOTS of harris's. It is a triangle series of roads just south of Hebronville Texas. I counted over 60 Harris's in one day there while trapping. It's where most falconers go to trap. I will see if I can get my map to give you details later.

Wilded and Riker, We need to form a plan of attack to coordinate this. It would be great if we could all get together on this trip as we could knock it out quick....I would go just to help trap for the fun of it!

I will be ready when you guys are, just make sure you have your papers and a picture ID for we will be stopped and checked by the border patrol on most trips. For some reason we always look suspicious. ET

The land owners down in that area are a bit suspicious of "outsiders".....As for the border patrol, It is best to let them know what is going on at the main checkpoints so they can let the other officers know ahead of time.....We actually trapped a harris 100 yards from a border patrol officers truck....he watched with a strange look so we went over to him and explained what we where up to and he really could of cared less. Other officers are not so calm about it and want to see permits and a good explanation.

PS: There are parts of the Harris Hawk's range in South Texas and Southwest Texas that have been in an extended drought and very well may have had an effect on the number of successful nests, therefore the number of birds available to trap this year. ET

Anybody want Bob? I am thinking about turning his little butt loose this season unless someone wants him...He is hell on rabbits! As for hunting down there.....It will be hot, along way from home and like Ed stated, we will be busy with other "things".
