Anyone have a good pole perch design for a coopers hawk?

I would think one would be in the desert hawking book you have, I was thumbing through mine and saw lots od diagrams and stuff. Is a pole perch appropriate for a coop? Everything I've read says they fly best off the fist, but I've not yet read my copy of desert hawking with a little..... For a coop I would think a tiercel HH size would work fine.

No, I am talking about an actual perch that sits in the living room kind of thing, not a T perch. Sorry, I forgot that they are called that too. I have seen Pole perches in the shape of a 4" pvc pipe.

No actually if I had of paid attention I would have figured that out. There IS a cool design for that if I recall in the Desert Hawking book you have. I'll look it up when I get home and get back to you.

My sponsor had made one for his merlin. It was pvc wrapped with enough outdoor carpeting to climb back up from a bate and there was a inverted cone in the center of the top where the leash was tethered to the center. It was about 5 foot high. I remember walking right by her a couple times ( like a foot away) and not even noticing her right in front of my face 'cause she was sitting so still on it. LOL I'll see if I can get him to send pics.

Thanks Minca, That is exactly what I had in mind. I am just not sure of the perching area it's self as it pertains to attachment on the jesses. I want to make some sort of sunken area so the bird is not standing on the swivel and jess area. More like a raised rim area around the top.

No....I don't see anything wrong with it....The electrical is well clear of the bird, it can't bate down more than the jess attachment allows which should only be a few inches, the wall looks far enough away....AHHH!!! I see what's wrong.....That's not a coopers hawk on the perch!

Frootdog, I think I will use the style shown in Desert hawking as it has the large platform for the bird to bate onto instead of hanging and ruining the train. Cheers, Weasel
