Looks alot like mine. What are you using as a safety curtain ? I use a heavy canvas pleated over the door with decoy weights sewn in the bottom so the wind won't lift it when I open the door. I learned that one when Scarlett came out under it, lucky for me she was at hunting weight and just jumped to my fist. Kurt P.S. If that's a Tuff Shed like mine the OSB they use for the floor isn't waterproof.

Thanks folks! I am going to attach my weathering yard to the front so it will act as a saftey chamber. I also know that the floor is not waterproof. I put almost a hole gallon of waterproofer on the floor and another gallon on the walls. I just used a good primer and it seems to work very well for now. I was concerned about the paneling were the window is so I just made sure to cover everything below my roof!
As far as perches I am going to have 2 shelf perches...One along the window and one smaller one across from it. The small one will be higher as well. I am going to hang a peice of rope and a couple block perches. One made of 4x4 and the other 2x4.
I will post a pic of the floor tonight. Hose... did you do anything to your floor?

I drilled a lot of drain holes which I covered with 1/4 in wire mesh. Then I painted the floor with porch paint. I use 1/2 in thick locking rubber mats over that. You can get those at Lowes, Home Depot or Wal-mart. The mats are 2'x2' and come in packs of four. I used five packs but they look like they'll last a while and you only replace the one's that need it. Kurt P.S. I like the large window, next year I'm going to put one in the mews. Right now I have two smaller ones for cross ventilation but I'll put a large one on the south side.

Great mews. Thanks for all the pics. I am in the process of building mine and will get some pics when completed. How did you attach the block perch to the floor? I have been pondering this and thought you might have some suggestions. Is it stable?
Also, in your picture the floor is white, that means the mats you spoke of are not in, right? I was thinking about using Astro Turf on a pad on the floor and just wondered if you were going to cover the pads or if they are good enough on the floor by themselves. Just wondering what your considerations were when deciding on the floor material.
Thanks again for the pictures and good luck hawking this year.

First off thank you!
Second...The floor is white because I primered it and am planning to attach some 3/16th wire mesh to the floor under my pea gravel. I was told by the mostest bestest sponsor in the world that I needed to drill A LOT of small holes for drainage. I am going to have a floor lay out like this.
3/4 pimered plywood. Then 3/6 metal cloth. On top of that will be my gravel. I am planning on 4 inches thick but that could change.....
I just used my air nailer to attach the block to the floor. I put 3 nails on all 4 sides at an angle and it will hold my butt up!

For the block perch, you can buy one of those adapter plates that alow the 4x4 to be nailed into the floor. It is basicly a ring that goes around the 4x4 and has flanges to nail down.

Ha ha, Thanks Chris. No, I am not planning on "going overboard" or anything. I am going to follow the advice of my sponsor. We are going to be going over plans, fine tuning everything, etc, this winter and careful and prudent construction in the spring. I should do a good job as I build stuff with wood for a living..god will I be embarrassed if this comes out crappy...haha, no rush though and I take pride in what I do, especially something for a hawk, and my hawk! It will be a fine example of Yankee practicality and ingenuity!

The ice and water shield used for roofing works well as a floor covering. It will prevent any water from getting to the osb. I also ran it up the wall six inches to make a tub like deal. Drain holes were covered with hardware cloth and three inches of pea stone complete the bottom. Just an idea.
