Here she is fresh off the trap at 8pm last evening. She weighted in at 1086g with a partial crop. Check out the boots on this chick! She is also a fairly dark colored bird for our area...it's hard to tell from the lighting/pic but she is a dark chocolate around the head, neck, back and has a beautiful white throat/belly patch... I know RT's are known for their gripping power but out of all the RT's I've handled in my life this girl has the muscle! I've never felt a bird on the glove (double elk) quite like I felt her last night...this is gonna be FUN! The Ride begins.... ~ Lee

Well yesterday was day 6 and "Hera" is doing really really well imho...I've had her inside on the glove every night in the fully lit living room around visitors, kids, TV and anything else I can think of to expose her too. I typically have been able to get 2.5-3 hrs a night plus a 1hr session in the afternoon as well so she has been getting a lot of exposure and taking it in stride.
Friday night she ate and picked a long time on the glove as I had given her a trimmed rabbit leg. She is much more food oriented than any of my previous birds. Yesterday afternoon I decided to attempt stepping/jumping her to the glove for the 1st time so I took her down to the basement and figured I try to get her to step or jump to the glove for a few tidbits. I clipped on a 8' leash just for the hell of it...after 5 minutes of indecision and leaning over towards the tidbit until she was almost falling off the perch she finally decided that jumping a foot to the glove was no big deal so I backed up another 2 feet, and then again until I had her coming the full 8' repeated without hesitation. I got 12-15 jumps out of her before I ran out of tidbits <VBG> and I'm sure she would have kept coming for quite awhile had I kept placing food on the gloveā¦
