I got a flyer in the mail the other day from www.westernsporting.com and they (or someone) have reprinted all of Jack Mavrogordato's books and updated some chapters. they are only selling the complete set not individual books. They run about $150. Until now all these books were out of print. Check out the website for more info. Also a friend of mine said that Joy Roy III has an excellent book called Duck Hawking. When looking into the book I found that only 1000 copies were printed. It is sure to become a collectors item. I bought one and I'm not really interested in longwings right now. |

I bought Joes book at the CHC meet. It is an EXCELLENT book. Joe is one of the best falconers going right now as far as im concerned. Anyone flying anything will benefit from reading his book.

I talked with Joe Roy at the last NAFA meet for a few minutes and he is certainly a knowledgable individual on the subject.

I read Joes book and liked it a lot. His book review in Am. Falconry magazine was extremely unfair. It is well worth the money. Jones ought to fire that Tabb guy. jmho

Yeah Joe's reply in the newest Am. Falconry was great. I don't know what Tabb has against Roy, but it sure sounded personal.

I agree, I've read a few select chapter's in Joe's book and found it to be very good reading. I've always thought Am. Falconry to be a very unpartial publication until I read Tabb's review. It didn't seem right, nor did it fit with my prior image of the magazine's unbiased reviews.
And I did read Roy's response in the latest issue with a pretty heavy smirk...kind of surprised they actually printed it.

Just make sure you read the review on the issue before this lastest one, then read Joe's reply back to the Am. Falconry mag. editor...scathing would be an understandment and I honestly feel he was correct in his accessment of the review.

The other guy that reviews the books gave it a good review, the 2 could not have been more different.
