Iam getting my raptor breding permit in the near future and Iam going to try my hand raising harris hawks my sponcer has been raising all kinds of falconry birds for years, and that is where Iam going to aquire my stock from. I want to fly these birds in a cast as a general so I can understand them better and see how they work after I feel I have enough knowledge Iam going to try my hand at breeding. Is anyone a breeder now because I would like to discuss it and see what and how they are doing. I have been raising animals since I was a kid and some of them I raised were tricky even for an expert I feel I have a green thumb for it and would like to try it with the harris because from what I heard they are not too hard to breed and I feel the market is going to take off due to the new laws coming in place.

Here are the fed regs for propogation.....I tried to look for the state falconry regs concerning propogation, but the site has no link to regs.... The state can somtimes require a certain amount of experience before a permit is issued. Not sure if VA does or not though.....Good luck as it is a hard thing to get into......

As far as I know you only have to be a general.
