Ok here is a question I have for future reference. I work 20 minutes away from home. The area I will be hunting is in the same area I work. If I work till 5:30 drive home 20 minutes, spend 15 minutes getting hawk and what ever else I would need to grab than drive 20 minutes back to hunt area, I would not be in the field till around 6:30. During hunting season that is already around sun down. Here is my idea, if I was to build something to keep in the back of my pickup to perch the hawk, would it be okay to leave it for a whole day 2 to 3 times a week. I would build something that would protect it from any thing. Any way just would like some feed back.

Kenbro, as long as you can check on it regularly, there should be no problem. When we go out flying, we will leave 2-3 birds in a Giant hood all day long. We have never had a problem other than the occasional passerby who might try to look inside. Thats why we put locks on them. Just make sure there is plenty of ventilation and protection from the elements.

Thanks, I just was not sure about it all day and often. I can carry a giant hood into my air conditioned office if needed. I just did not know about keeping it closed in 2 to 3 times a week all day.

Ken, I do the very thing you are talking about. Some days if it is very cold I use my giant hood and other days I have a 2x4 covered in a-turf that he sits on. I have an A.R.E. camper shell and I park in a covered multi story lot. I have not had any trouble at all. The only time I do not do this is if it is going to be above 90 or so. Other than that he does not seem to mind.

Ditto, I take my birds to work quite often. I just make sure it is protected from the elements and prying hands.

I also have taken my birds to work quite often over the years. I park my truck close to our security building. Our sucurity guards are armed and have been instructed to "shoot to kill" anyone that messes around my vehicle.
