Does anyone know if your sponsor has to be from the state you wish to practice falconry in. I have a person willing to sponsor me. However, he lives in Indiana and I live in Michigan on the border.

Their (the sponsor's) state usually doesn't matter, but you might want to check with someone from the Michigan club to be sure. -Joe

I think in Texas you have to have a Texas sponsor. Who knows about Michigan. Contact the permit office and ask them.

Make sure you check with your state's falconry coordinator. I live in Illinois, right on the border near St. Louis, Missouri and my sponsor lives in St. Louis. I double checked with the Illinois coordinator before I asked her and he said he knew of other people that did it as well. His only concern was making sure the sponsor was geographically close enough to be available to assist me.

Yeah that's the trick. Weasel's my sponsor and back home he's only a few blocks from me yet now that I'm away at college he's 1hr and 1/2 drive....or just an hour depending on the tailwind Usually I'll pop home every 3 or 4 weekends but Stephenville's got some great pit BBQ! Right Weasel? ;-)

I am looking for a sponsor and I am located in LA California. I just passed my test. Anyone out there willing to help me and my 14 year old son please? We are very dedicated and have our hunting licences and are ready to go for an inspection.
