i am from oregon so if there are any people who would like tp sponsor me, please let me know. I have bought the books and studing for the test. Also if you guys know any good website or something that could help me get ready for the test, please let me know. Thanks

The only advice I can give is quit asking people to sponsor you. You need to be asking if there is anyone you can go hawking with........

To any one needing help !
I am always up to do what ever I can to see they get any help , with in my power . I have worked with several people around the world and have shipped materials to many places , Japan , Venezuela , Peru and so on , at my own expense !
The BIGGEST problem I see in the U.S. Is people who wish to be falconers and can not get the chance cause no one is willing to help with sponsor ship !!
We have , in my opinion , the best falconers in the world do to the laws that protect the birds ! But our people ( not every one mind you ) act as tho the have an exclusive on falconry .
One of our club member masters said when he was trying to find a sponsor , the master that sponsored him said " I will sponsor you on one condition , never call me for any thing " .
It is attitudes like this that has US healed back as a sport , come paired to Deer or Duck hunting . Believe it or not , it is our numbers which give us voice with the Fish & Wild Life services in each state .
If some one needs a sponsor , help them find one , if you can not do it your self ! DON'T hand them a bunch of B.S. . If you can't help , keep your trap shut !
No offense intended to any one ! There are some really good people on here !! Weasel and CCR included but help those in need , don't shot them down be for they can get off the water !!

I did help. I let him in on the secret that almost nobody will sponsor a person who walks up and says "My name is so and so wanna sponsor me?" And just for the record TODH has never refused someone who wants to go hawking with us, they might not be asked back but atleast given a chance. This sport is not something to be handed out like coupons in the paper. This is sacred to me...... |

Well spoken. Someone must earn the right to be a Falconer. You do not just sign up and become one. If you think it is that easy raise pigeons or go get a parrot. Falconry must become part of your life and do not expect someone else to carry the load for you. |

You guys, you have to realize that zero, I'm sure, is just starting out. How many of us knew that asking for a sponsor was a bad thing? I knew when I first barely started out, I thought a sponsor was someone who said 'Yeah, he can have a bird. If he has questions he can call me.' Didn't think it was that big a deal. Now how would someone who has no idea of how this sport works know not to ask for a sponsor?
Cut the guy some slack, he wants to learn. Just because he asked the wrong question doesn't mean we have to jump his case this soon.
Welcome to the forum Zero. Hope you enjoy it here (if you haven't left already) and if you have more questions HOPEFULLY they will be answered in a more helpful, less critical way.

hay i knew no one and i found it all by my self and met every one on my own ether by inter or going to meets when getting in to this sport you have to be able to step up and make your self know when i went to my first meet i was the life of the place making jokes asking questions and introdusing my self one of the people i did that to is th one who gave me the nuber to my now sponsor think about heheheh
