Adahi was run over by a Key Energy 18 wheeler this afternoon. I was wanting to get some flying time in today and was off by 2pm, Padme' was 853g's and too high for my risk taking. Adahi was at 907g's, quite high but he was coming to me hard so I decided to take him out and fly a bit. I ended up going to the Magenta Plantation to hunt along some of the gravel roads they installed to get to the natural gas wells. Adahi was following well but not really hunting hard, he had just flown up to a dead power pole which had no wires. I noticed the truck coming down the road slow, they have too because they are normally full of oil when they come out of the fields. Adahi was acting snakey necked and looking a few feet in front of me. I was just going to wait for the truck to pass then jump what ever Adahi was looking at. The truck approched me and when it was about 25' to me a rabbit shot out right in front of it and Adahi stooped off the pole and tried to go under the truck but was hit then crushed by the back wheels, the truck driver never knew what happened and just kept blowing dust down the road....... Wow Michael, I'm sorry to hear that. A falconer friend of mine lost a bird last year on her first hunt due to a power pole/electrocution. It's hard to believe how quickly things can go from fine/normal to deadly, and often with no warning.
