It’s with much trepidation that I must inform so many people that I will not be attending this years THA meet. Now I have to go out to the mews and tell Neo and Padme’ as well!
I was informed this morning of an opportunity that I have been dreaming of for the past seven years. I have always wanted to be on the TV show Survivor and now I have the chance to make that dream come true, unfortunately I have to be at a production call Sunday the 20th from 10am to 1pm.
I hope everyone can understand, but to make up for missing this quality time with all my friends I’m going to make a trip to Amarillo the end of February and I will be in Fort Worth at least two weekends in March and April.

I hate to hear you will not be there, but good luck with the whole survivor thing. Hope to see you on the TV some day>

So what's the word are you going to have to be living off of hawk food in the woods for a couple weeks or what?

I made it through the first two cuts, now waiting on the March cut, if i make that one I'll be headed to San Antonio, Texas for another cut, if I make it through that one I'll be headed to Los Angeles, CA and if I make that one I'll be a finalist headed to an island and hopefully will play the game.
So I have a long, long way to go with several major hits against me, I'm white, male, middle aged and I have major survival skills. This makes up 80% of their applicants and they just don't need any more middle aged white guys.

Maybe you can trap a Harpy and just train it to eat the group. WIN!

I'm not normally into Survivor, but if you get on, you know I'll watch that season religiously! That'd be interesting to see you trying to make a wicker BC....

Ha ha ha ha ha yeah a wicker bow net! I think the show would be over before I got it trained.
On another note though, I make most of my equipment like most of you do and that will come in very handy.
I'm taking lesson now from some local flint nappers on making privative weapons and tools.
Also brushing up on edibility of local fauna, even though I don't know a location yet tropical fauna is remarkably similar.

You might wanna study some flora too, for the sake of being able to nibble little shoots and roots between meals.... who knows you may end up somewhere that has wild sweet potatoe or something!

Sweet!
I'm interested to know what types of stone I might expect to find on a tropical island, what materials I might find to nap with, I'm thinking blades and axes would be helpful

Corral should work very well. Some forms of shell should be usable. Most volcanic rock found on island formations is not usable.
