Hey everyone i am from Portugal i live around the capital (lisbon) in a placed called carcavelos, that belongs to a very popular and touristic place caled cascais, My house is near the beach but there isn't much fields around so that's why i dont have the conditions to have a hawk but i would love to learn more about this art and make it bigger in my country!
All the best, Francisco

What u mean by beaches? If its the thing with sand and sea they are all public! lol, but the country side or either is a private farm or its a huntig area but every one uses guns... its a risk to use a hawk there, hunters may not like it and shoot it, i still dont know where can u can go hawking in Portugal... sad but true
Takecare, Francisco

The problem here ccrobins, is that it's much harder to pratice falconry, then hunting with a gun. Most of the land here belongs to associations of gun hunters, who are very litlle compreensive about falconry or birds of prey! Things are getting a litlle bit better regarding conservation of raptors (they reduced shooting them) , but still too bad regarding falconry. There is only one falconry club in the country with 32 associates, and only 11 or 12 of them really hunts with b.o.p.'s... There no tradition of falconry, wich makes things even worst. On the other hand, in Spain, just next to us, falconry is really developed, and supported by everyone... It's almost like a national sport!!!
