is it just a regular removeable anklet rolled in thirds and stitched?

It doesn't look removable to me, the two ends are crimped together by the grommet. It looks great for a bird that doesn't bate alot when tethered.

With "this bird" and having used these anklets I can think of no reason not to forgo the anklets all together and just use a velcro type set up when I want to put him up. Other than support for the bells I really don't use the anklets much. Michael Beran

It is a nornal anklet but instead of using one gromett though the leather to hold them in place you use two grometts and velcro so that when you put the jesse through you just press the velcro to hold it in place. Easy to take off when you want to fly. I WOULD NOT use anklets like this on a perched bird, only for transport and if you wanted to fly the bird equipment free. So: 1). make sure the bird is well trained for such 2). make sure your willing to take the risk associated with such 3). practice taking the anklets on an off while the bird is on the kill
