weasel do you like you gary hood?? i am thinking of changeing to one from a two piece dutch hood that joe bill rogers made me to one of garys. they look like good hoods and i have heard they can fit better. what do you think

I didn't like them at first as they don't fit out of the box. All you need to do to them is wet the parts around the beak opening and flare them out until they don't touch the beak at all. My bird falls asleep with it on all the time so it must be quite comfy for her. He only charges $40 for them too so it's a great deal and they are very durable as he makes them from stiff leather.

Why does the hood have a fringe around the gape ?? I have never seen one like it before

Just an easy way to flare that area for a good soft fit.

I was always told to use warm water around the gape suppose it does same thing tho

Yes, I do the same with this one. This is just a new hood that has not been shaped yet. I still flare out the edges with water as so to avoid irritating the nares of the bird.
