Go to Home Depot and get the braided mason line. Don't get the twisted mason line. When the line is doubled, two strands for every "cord" it's perfect for even the strongest RT. The only drawback is it only comes in bright pink and bright yellow.

I use climbing rope from the sporting goods store. It is 3/16 inch this and you will not break it!

I have three different types of leashes. One is on my out door perch it is made out of bunggy cord( must be checked often if left outside a lot) The other leash is made out of mountain climbing rope with two attachable swivels on each end ( used to carry and man new birds or for trained birds when walking or other activities) the third leash I use is made from paracutte cord with a piece of round circular leather on one end. ( use this for the field jesses when hunt, always slightly burn one end so it will go through the field jesses hole.) Al these materials can be found at any army surplus store.

Some of the hoods and gloves were kinda cheap but they looked kinda bad. The glove was one layer only.

Yup, Alot of folks that fly falcons do not need the thick leather that we use for hawks.

Cow hide is good for gloves, Mine is the cheap version of the deer skin one in Mike's cataloge had it two years now just starting to wear a little and it is kind of soft for hawks but will do fine, some people use welders gloves they're only about 15.00 dollars. I'll catch heck for say that.

If it was me strider I would stay away from cow hide its not as strong as kangeroo and not worth having your bird break free and be gone I quess you could use it for your glove that wouldnt matter but not for equipment.

i use nylon cord its light strong and very soft and then you can all so attach a 2 small clips that go the leash so if ever taking out hunting and you see a rabbit all you have to do is un clip and then the bird can chase the quarry i like the idea
