Who here knows the proper method to attach a fox loop leash? I beleive they are the safest of all the leashes to use as they cannot come off the bird without you taking it off and they cannot tangle up in the swivel. Weasel

I use one, at least the Button version. If I recall correctly you preferred the button-less, but I assume they both operate in the manner? To describe How to attach one in words would be about as easy as describing how to tie a falconer’s knot so I won’t even attempt that…but I do know that if I don’t use mine on a regular basis it takes me a try or two to get it right when I do have to use mine, not unlike trying to remember how to make a Turk’s knot for a hood (did that last night, 4 attempts before I FINALLY remembered how to tie one of those d**n things!) Anyway, good luck and I guess if know one else helps out drop me a PM and I can probably snap some step by step pics of how to attach one. That might be easier to understand verses reading a written description. Lee

Pictures would be great as there are too many folks who think that the fox loop is held on by only the button throught the loop which is incorrect. Cheers, Weasel

Perfect! Thanks a bunch Lee! I have a fox loop leash at home that does not have a button on it. I guess it's the same thing though.... ;D

Thanks Minca...taking the pics was no problem, glad I could help out.
As for the perch, I made it. I think it weights about 35lbs so it should be suffcient for just about ANY raptor that would use a bow perch ;D
The bow portion is stainless steel, as are the ring & sampo....the base is 100% Corian that can easily be scrubbed or powerwashed clean. The perching portion is sissal wrapped with equine (sp?) leg tape (similiar to vet tape) which I change approx. 3-4 times a year.
That perch is 3 seasons old and has sat out in rain, snow and sun 100% of the time...still looks as nice as the day I tossed it out there.

Corian! Ok... My sponsor is a tile contractor and would have used solid granite or marble. He attatched his scale to a solid granite base after his peregrine bated off of the old one and sent it behind her to the floor in peices. He offered to make one for me, and at the time I thought I was continuing with kestrels for a while and wouldn't need it so I turned him down. (Argg!) If ya ever feel motivated enough to make another let me know! Ok, sorry about going off topic, back to fox leashes now.....

I've made 3 so far...the other 2 I donated to a local Raptor Education organization for use with their Eagles. I think shipping the things would be the biggest issue.oh, you're right...off topic again huh Lee

I make the 8 strand braided leashes. I can braid directly to a sampo or just have a loop at the e swivel end and they are finished with either a buton and turks knot or just a turks knot. I can submit pics if anyone is interested. length varies on needs.

post some pics anyway. some people might not know they're interested until after they see pics.
