My Female Harris recently Broke its leg after trapping it in a branch whilst tumbling with a hare. It was a clean break below the Knee joint and no tissue damage. A callous formed after two weeks and now 6 weeks since the brake is she ready to fly? She was a First year bird and had only flown twice (Typical luck!) so she was unfit and had little muscle.
Is it to soon? She seems OK with it in the Mews and easily comes to the fist. She is instant on the creance (just thought in-case) at 100ft. But is she ready to Fly let alone Hunt?

i would say if she is not favoring it she should be good. but i would get an xrayat the vet to be sure the bone is solid. does she have full movement in her toes and good strength with her talons? she should if she is ready to fly.

Yes she has.I think she still favours her good foot when holding her meat down but i think that is just what she has beeb used to for the last 6 weeks. The thing is to get her muscles built up and the only sure way is to fly her.
