As with anything in life you only get back what you put in. Caring for a raptor is something we all need practice with. It should be entered into with the highest commitment and an overpowering sense of obligation. I have seen too many falconers that start off doing it well, fueled by the newness of it all. All too often however they seem to fall off somewhat. Do not let this happen to you! It is a matter of personal ethics and standards. Can you really set the bar too high when it comes to caring for your raptor, I think not. For the sport to last we all have to practice at a level that is beyond reproach. Mr and Mrs Weasel have not only adopted my training plan but also some of my philosophy. This is how they will teach those that come later. That means a whole new group of potential falconers are going to be expected to maintain a bird under the best conditions at all times. When Weasel comes off my permit later this summer I will not relent my pushing him to excell and rapidly get into his business if he shows any signs of slacking. ( I doubt he will) If you are really serious about this sport the very best way to demonstrate your commitment and skill is through the husbandry you practice, it is visible to all your peers. Now go and excell and keep a healthy bird or I just may come and visit! Yarak
