I believe you only have to pay the fed fee when you renew your state permit. So you will be safe until 2006.

I live in Arkansas and our permit cost is only $25 for 3 years for the state, now with the $100.00 Federal permit charges I will only have to pay this $125.00 in March when I upgrade for three years as appose to $50. I think if the Feds move into the new regulations and allow the state to handle this they should not charge us this outrageous fee, something else that brought a concern was this fee is to pay for the personnel that has to “push this paper” in the new regulations they are proposing to move to an electronic database that is online, now we will be responsible to enter in the data for them there is no need for the “paper pushers” so why the increase? I work in a IT field and anytime you change something to allow a user to enter in information into a database you eliminate a job from someone, to me this equates to less overhead not more!
