I just returned from a Father & Son bear hunt out in the Campbell River, B.C. area...its located near the north eastern end of Vancouver Island. I was luck enough to take a rather nice black bear and a wolf on this hunt and my father and brother also took very nice bears. The scenery was unbelievable and I plan on returning very soon to the area. On the 4th day we elected to do some fishing in some fairly deep water 190'+ and took a couple small rock cod, the smaller fish didn't do too well adjusting to the depth at the surface and would appear stunned for a few moments. We had 2 mature adult Bald Eagles perching near us and one came down and grabbed the stunned rock cod from off the water...it was less than a dozen feet from the boat...this began an afternoon of Eagle feeding for us. We'd whistle to the Eagle using their call whistle and they would come stooping right towards the boat off the high rock faces...we'd then toss a fish out 10'-15' from the boat and they'd dive and grab them right in the air or off the surface just as they hit the water. While the hunting was fabulous, feeding the wild Eagles will remain the true highlight of the trip for me. Lee

Nope, was the only day I DIDN'T have a camera on board...it was with Dad and lil' bro while they chased their critters. Here's one of the wolf, a bit graphic, but all I had....shows ya a .300 WSM is still plenty of gun at 200yds Bear and wolf will become rugs and the skulls will get bleached and sealed and set in the library next to the rugs. The bear was a decent sized bear. He squared out 6' 7" and had a 19" skull. Lee

Just to start out as an ass. Cambell River is only half way up the Island and the next time your up this way you should check out the whole Island. It's great and as you go north on the Island there are less and less people thow some don't care much for tuorist when you go that far north. Too many loggers and commercial fishermen and they don't like to share. Roads or fish. But for ther most part they are good people. Or for a real hunt head to the Peace River area, huge moose, bear and musky.

Sorry about the logistical confusion...I'm a tourist in that area so I'm afraid you'll have to bear with me on my lack of knowledge when it comes to pinpoint locations on the island.
I wish I could have spent some more time there besides just the hunting portion of our trip and I hope to return there someday again, but this time with my wife and kids as I personally feel it was one of the most beautiful locations I've visited in my life...and I'm a lover of MT and WY so that should give anyone a good frame of reference as to the quality of the landscape up there.

Don't take it too hard like to poke everyone. I know some people in Campbell Rive that don't know the highway goes farther north from there. Next time up chech out ripple rock. Or stay on the main land and travel the Frazer Canyon, or check out Barker Ville. Though that's another 9hrs of driving from Vancouver. Just ask my wife works at the 100 Mile info center you want to plan a trip to BC just let me know.

Thanks for the info Chris, I didn't take it too hard...I knew you were ribbing and I tried to respond tongue in cheek but it looks like it didn't come across that way.....LOL.
