Jon, may I ask what kind of quotes you've been getting for fencing? Have you looked into the premade fencing sections that are available at the hardware store chains? (my plug for Home Depot since I now work there! ) In your situation I would be really nervous about getting a bird without a fence around the yard first. Even if it's just a little three foot picket to remind people that it's NOT open to the public. Have you seen this yet? : www.georgiafalconryassociation.com/danger.htmlI couldn't get the link to work does any one have a copy of what the link connected to?

I keep the gate to my backyard locked and the door to my mews locked. I came home to find about 20 people in my backyard one day to see my hawk.

When I built the privacy fence along the back of my yard (we have an alley back there) I made it so that it looked solid, w/out a gate. The gate only opens from the inside and has two latches, one high and another at the base. I also built the 5' fence along my driveway that way. Thus, if someone wants to get in, they're going to have to jump the privacy fence, which ain't gonna be easy, due to all of the "accidently" exposed nails along the top. ;D -Joe

I have locks on both the external storm door and on each door into the mews also. The bars on the windows and Metal conduit with 1/2" re-bar inserted into them for added security. If someone wants into my mews, they will need a cutting torch or a chainsaw.....and a bullet proof vest.....

bullet proof vest won't stop armor piercing, LOL I have a privacy fence with my dogs, and will have locks on all doors and gates. I also have motion lights and will add a camera system. Not the best neighbor hood, to close to high school.

I'm staying in the house for now. Now that the ex-beeotch is gone, I am getting by OK.....My mews is NOT portable by any means. I would have to de-construct it in order to move it and I doubt it would set up right in any other location as it is built to the lay of the land (ie. slope)

That's got to be a relief, especially after you put so much effort into building a great mews. -Joe

I live in a small town in North Texas, and no one really tresspasses that much, because every person that has either been shot to death, or been shot at and got lucky and didn't get hit. I've lived here for 16 years, and there have only been two problems with it. One guy was just from a rival school, he was going around vandalizing houses, He broke down the wrong door one night (some guy was waiting with a 12 gauge on the other side). The other happened right next door, and the crook took off down the street, and the owner of the house next door ran outside with his 12 gauge and took a shot, he missed but the crook got on the ground pretty fast. Were I live everyone owns a gun by the age of 15, even the chicks. I'm more worried with someone trying to shoot my bird than tresspassers

"Cool door mat to wipe your feet... or crazy 10,000 volt electic mat?" muahahaha
