What do you use one layer of leather or two? I plan to make the two layer kind cause it looks like it would be better.

I would get good mediacl insurance for all the stiches that might be needed should a large hen be aquirred, with a welders glove. For Gos/RT and up I would say 2 layers. Under that you can usaly get away with one. Also depends on the temperment of the bird. Go with what ever is comftorable, works well, and keeps those tallons out of your hand.

A british company just designed a glove for the twenty first century. It's called the "excalibur" It is basicly the same traditional falconry glove with two layers of leather, but inbetween the two layers they put a tight woven layer of kevlar material. They said it is very flexible, but cannot be puntured. They tested it with several footy eagles.....How would you like to be the tester for that?

Reminds me of the first idiot they convinced to jump into the shark tank in one of those Shark Suit things.
"naaa you'll be fine..."
BTW, i have a double layered leather gauntlet, and my bird can go through it WHENEVER she wants. She usually doesn't, but has on a few occasions and i know she can when she wants to.

A welders glove is a good way to start out if you don't have a lot of money yet. But my suggestion is to buy a leather garden glove and wear that inside of the welders glove. A big female red tail can go right through even elk gloves if she really wants to. Somehow, they manage to find the stitching holes and goes right in.

I saw some of these warm and fuzzy Nordic gloves and was wondering what anyone thought of these.
