Here's a great example of how helpful our state and federal game wardens can be. At the vet clinic I work at we had a first year male bald eagle brought in. Xrays revealed the bird had been shot with size 4 shot (shotgun). It had a broken Left humerus, right radius and right tibial tarsal bone, very bad head trauma, and severe internal injuries. The bird was eventually euthanised. Calls were made to the state game wardens to inform them of the findings. They called the feds and the fed game warden went to investigate. in less than 48 hours they had found the guy that shot the bird. Our state has a restitution fee of $7600 for a bald eagle and the feds are filing a court case against him. Terrible deal with at least somewhat of a happy ending. The guys excuse? He thought it was a red tail! The fed. game warden LOVED that one.
You don't kill for no reason. As my Papaw always said,"You shoot it, you eat it." Biggest butt whuppin I ever got was shooting a sparrow with a bb gun. It is our God given responsability to teach others to treat His creature with the respect they deserve. Ok I will get off my soap box now.
