I dont think many people really think of this as an important peice of falconing equipment, but my mom wont have any dead stuff in her freezer.... so what do you guys suggest? My parents are thinking along the lines of having to buy a 3'tall 3x6 freezer... would this really be necessary for an apprentice flying a redtail?

Yea, but they are not staring at you out of the freezer. I can understand what he is going through as when my mother comes to my house she refuses to open the freezer anymore as there was a whole line of squirrel heads staring at her the last timeshe opened it....I bought a deep freezer so I could fit all the jackrabbits in there as the inside freezer just doesn't have the capacity. I think I paid $150 for mine, but you can find them pretty cheap in the want ads.

I don't know about y'all, but I have to have a separate deep freeze just to have room for all the stuff my bird catches.

When I was in college in Abilene I ran a trapline every winter to make extra money (if there was such a thing) One morning I had a giant coyote with a real pale fur. At that time they were worth about $75.00 for a pale so I wanted to take my time skinning it and not mess it up. My inlaws lived about 2 blocks from campus so I went by and put it in their chest freezer. I knew I could get it out before they got off from work and no one would be the wiser. I never thought about my mother in law coming home at lunch to get something out of the freezer to thaw for supper. After she stopped screaming and realized what was in her freezer she started looking for me. After that I have always had my own freezer.
