I have been making my own jesses for weathering for quite awhile. I prefer the nylon cord as opposed to leather for weathering purposes.

Here are a few pictures of the jesses. One Jess uses 24 inches of cord. I measure down the cord 11 inches and insert a coat hanger to that point inside the cord. I then poke it out of the jess and attach the other end to it. I then carefully pull it back through until I have the desired loop and the two ends are at least equal. I tie the end in a knott and light the small tail on fire to drip down and seel the knot from coming undone. One jess down. It takes about 10-15 minutes a jess all said and done, but they will last along time and they are dirt cheap to make. I can get 100ft rolls of the cord for $5....

ya ive been making leashes out of the same chord for a while now.
I just wasn't confident that the loop would be secure. But if you are doing it that way and they don't come undone i guess it works.
I made a pair almost exactly like the ones you posted, but ran a few stitches through the loop to ensure the end didn't come out. They were a little stiff, but worked.
Still experimenting. Ill post pics of the braided dacron ones when im done with em.

I love to braid my leases, but find that braiding jesses is just too stiff. It can be difficult to find a cord small enough so when your are finished braiding it's not too thick. I fly two HH and braided two different colored jesses for each bird. I had a hard time telling which bird was which in the field. The different colors worked out great, but they became too stiff after only a couple of uses. I too an interested in your dacron braiding. I've looked at dacron on the net. What weight do you use? And where do you buy it?

Well the problem with paracord is it tightens up when it gets wet, as you have noticed. A good way to fix that is soak it in hot water for about 5 minutes before you braid it. Let it dry out, then braid it. It will still get stiff, but not nearly as stiff as if it is unsoaked, and if you don't braid it too tightly, it won't get stiff at all. Its a matter of finding a happy medium when you braid it between too loose and too tight. I am using 130lb dacron marlin leader that i buy from www.meltontackle.com. I tried 80lb and it was too small, the 130 lb is just about right. They also shipped me some heavyer nuts on accident, and it works just as well too. I would guess anything above 130 would work fine. Plus thier dacron comes pre-waxed. Just make sure you don't buy the Spectra. That line is a really thin diameter. Get the marlin braid dacron. Ill make some more jesses tonight. The ones i made last night were quickly snatched up by my sponsor with an excuse about testing them or something If you got any questions about braiding, jesses, leashes, or jess extenders, just lemmie know. I've gotten pretty good at it and ill post some pics soon, gotta borrow the digi cam from my pop.

Well, At the moment, I only have this one color and I don't really commercially sell them. It's more of a "if ya want a pair, I'll make a pair" thing.
