Are rubber mats safe and legal to use in a mew?

Good question. As long as water can safely drain off under the mats then it is safe. I use rubber mats in my Wife's birds mew as she has a tendancy to run on the ground alot and dull the talons from the gravel. I put down perforated rubber matts in the areas that she was on the ground and it aided in sharpening them back up quickly

are they cheap cause we got a preasure washer and i was thinking going in there taking the bird and putting her in the weatering area and just spray down the place. I would put the matts on the walls to cause some birds shot rather than drop. Also easy draning.

Don't know if you have a Sams Club in your area or not. I got a whole bundle of inter locking floor matts that are 3/4 inch thick made out of medium durable rubber. I think there was 12 matts per bundle and they were only like ten bucks. You can take them apart and wash them and then hock em back up.

They measure like 22" by 28 " they will be black on one side and muti colored on the other side. So far the ones I had purchased are holding up pretty good. You may be able to find the same thing in some of the large lumber material stores too. I did find a place where you can buy that green plastic atifical grass which is what those green floor mats are made of. The company is in St. Louis Missouri and the biggest piece you can buy is 4x6'ft. I'll have to look that info up, I think they were Mucho Danaroes in costs.

I'm going to try and find it if I can, in the mean time, go to your locoal hardware store find one of those floor mats and get the US manurfacture name and address off of the trade mark tag, look it up on the net you'll find sevral others as well. Maybe someone on here has some info on manufactors who supply large pieces of that stuff at reasonable prices.

Wal-Mart sells daisy mats for 3.99 each here and that's the best price I have found yet. I use it for all my perch surfaces.

Well, There is stadium astroturf and then there is door mat longleaf astroturf. Either can be used, but commonly, the longleaf is used ofr hawks and the short leaf is for falcons. The stuff at home depot is stadium short leaf, or outdoor carpeting
