Grr, I received my falconry packet from WV DNR and it did not have a list of the licensed falconers in WV. I was under the assumption that it would. Now I only have the Ohio Falconry Association that says it will send me a list when I apply for associate membership. I'm mailing out the app tomorrow. Wish me luck everyone. I really want to go out. I'm thinking about joining the Maryland Falconer's Association to see about their contact list. Virginia too. Now, would I have to get a hunting permit for each state? Solstice

Yes, most likely. Unless they reciprocate.

Well, today is the day....Froot can I get one last kick in the crotch? My app. is at 10 so by 11:30 or 12:00 I should be finished......GULP! Good luck....you'll need it. Do they give you that long to finish the test. One of my freinds had the gamewarden come to give the exam and the game warden showed up, handed him the exam and said I'll be back in 2 hours......

Solstice...Try getting with your local falconry group for that list. I would Froot, but West Virginia seems to be lacking a local group, so I am looking to neighboring states at this time. I'm going to contact WV DNR again to ask if they might have forgotten to include the contact list. Thanks a lot Solstice

Yeah, well, that one has a broken contact link and just some pictures or scans of the falconry packet that I have received from DNR already. I have looked online and have come up with nada. I've contacted Ohio, Maryland, and Virginia associations to see about meeting up with some people at events or meetings. In the meantime.... I signed up for the hunting education class that I will need to obtain a hunting license and have been studying Beebe & Webster. Thanks for the encouragement though. It will happen!

It depends on your regs. In Texas we have to locate a sponsor first, then test. What state are you in? In cali you can test then find a sponsor.

I've never read the Wash. packet, but I would talk with some local falconers in your area , and start looking for a sponsor. If you don't know any, ask Wildlife and Fish agent, local Falconery club, zoo, and don't forget the rehabbers. Someone may help you meet the right people. Sometimes it may not be easy, but keep looking. wes

I agree. Talk to as many folks as you can. If you call you F&G dept. they will tell you what to do. If you can test first I would do that.

It took about 2 weeks for me but it was before hunting season. He told me it would have taken a lot longer if it had been during deer season.
